GUIDANCE FOR ANIMAL RESCUE, REHOMING AND HANDOVERS IN WALES - JANUARY 2022
Important Update:
As the Welsh Government moves to Alert Level 0, the Animal Welfare Network for Wales has produced the following guidance for rescue and rehoming, animal related businesses and animal handovers.
Animal rehoming can now take place in line with each centre or organisation’s policies. Contact the centre or consult their website and social media pages to find out what restrictions they have in place before travelling and respect their policies. Facemasks are still required before entering premises. Some centres are closed to the public but are still operating an online and/or telephone service, please check with your chosen centre whether they are currently offering appointments.
Rehoming can now take place within Wales or to England as long as the welfare of the animal is taken into account to prevent long journey times. The 2-metre distance is no longer mandatory but should be maintained as a precaution, especially if requested by the organisation/person you are dealing with.
Travel between England and Wales is permitted - and owners are once again encouraged to travel in order to meet their animals’ welfare needs.
As of 21 January, there is no limitation on the number of people who can attend outdoor training classes, while restrictions on the number of people who can meet indoors were removed on 28 January.
